There is no reverse racism, honey

And I have every right to be angry, mmkay?  YOU need to take responsibility for what you wore, not me.  As for wearing anything offensive, I have not - because growing up on the reservation and seeing the very people who stole my culture and land taught me to be more self-aware of the choices I make.

I feel like my culture and identity is being attacked every time a person puts on a damn headdress.  Okay?

Seriously done with this shit - happy hour/”getting a life” time!

comment 1: Why is it okay for you to judge me as a “privileged white person”? That is absolutely a form of racism. You don’t know me, my background or my upbringing. I have not judged you based on your race, color or religion. I actually have not judged you at all. I respect the fact that you have an opinion and am glad that there is a forum where you can freely share it. You calling me out for a costume I wore to a festival saying that I am ignorant and an asshole seems absurd and completely contradictory to the message I assume you are trying to proliferate. I was merely trying to show you how any element of my outfit, or any outfit really, could be used as an example of a cultural tradition reappropriated in the name of fashion. Show me a costume you have worn that someone somewhere wouldn’t find offensive.o

comment 2: I feel like there has to be a less aggressive way to approach this topic. I am actually an understanding and compassionate person and am willing to listen to arguments and actually hear what you are saying. When you attack me, it is much harder for me to take anything away from what the points that you make. I am not racist, which is probably a statement that bothers you and convinces you that I am in fact racist. I know I’m not, and that is good enough. It seems like if you truly want to educate people on the meaning of the traditional headdress, then it should be a conversation, not an attack. I would listen to you and talk to you, it’s just too bad you’ve already discounted me because of something I wore and didn’t know about.
